My new V Pure capsules smell fishy. Are they unsafe?

I waited 2 months for my new order of V Pure Vegan DHA & EPA product to arrive. The company kept saying delay after delay! When it eventually arrived, the capsules are a bit sticky and they smell of rotten fish. The taste is awful and I'm getting fishy burps, yuck! Are they potentially unsafe? V Pure's response hasn't been at all helpful. Anyone else found the same, or can anyone advise? Thanks!
