Other than the size of the kibbles, is it really important to feed a kitten kitten food?

Well yes you could feed him the meow mix, but I wouldn't recommend it. Kittens have different dietary needs than an adult cat which is why they make a food just for them. I would put the kitten in a seperate room at meal time, until he's/she's a year old.
